Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before using The Salafi Masjid app or website.
Last updated: 15 April 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using The Salafi Masjid mobile application ("App") or the website at salafimasjid.app ("Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services.
These Terms apply to all users of the App and Site, including mosque administrators who create and manage content.
2. Description of Service
The Salafi Masjid App provides the following services free of charge:
- Prayer time notifications from the masjid's printed timetable, bundled with the App
- Mosque announcements and event listings
- Subscription to mosque notifications
- Contact form for enquiries
The App is provided as a community service (sadaqah jaariyah) and is entirely free. There are no subscriptions, in-app purchases, or advertisements.
3. User Accounts
Some features of the App require you to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and to update your information if it changes. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our servers, systems, or other users' accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the App or Site
- Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the App or Site without permission
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity
- Post content that is defamatory, obscene, or contrary to Islamic ethics
5. Mosque Administrator Responsibilities
If you are granted administrator access for a mosque, you are responsible for ensuring that all content you publish (announcements, events, descriptions) is accurate, appropriate, and in accordance with the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf.
We reserve the right to remove content or revoke administrator access if content is found to be inaccurate, misleading, or inappropriate.
6. Prayer Times Disclaimer
Prayer times displayed in the App come directly from the masjid's own printed timetable — the jama'ah times set by the committee of The Salafi Masjid, Birmingham. The timetable is bundled with the App and covers the years published by the masjid. Occasional discrepancies with the masjid's latest printout may occur shortly before a new year's timetable is published and synced into the App.
We recommend verifying prayer times with the masjid's printed timetable or notice board when in doubt, particularly for matters where timing is critical (e.g., beginning or ending a fast).
7. Donations
Donations made through the Site are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. All donations are voluntary and non-refundable unless required by law. Donations go directly to The Salafi Masjid for the maintenance and operation of the masjid and its programmes.
We are not responsible for any issues arising from the payment processing service. Please refer to Stripe's terms of service for payment-related terms.
Gift Aid: If you opt in to Gift Aid when making a donation, you are making a legally binding declaration that you are a UK taxpayer and that you pay sufficient Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover the amount of Gift Aid that will be claimed on all your donations. It is your responsibility to notify us if your tax status changes. False or inaccurate Gift Aid declarations may result in penalties from HMRC.
8. Intellectual Property
The App, Site, and all associated content (including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, and software) are the property of The Salafi Masjid or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of our content without prior written permission, except as expressly permitted by these Terms.
9. Availability & Modifications
We strive to keep the App and Site available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without prior notice.
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App or Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Salafi Masjid shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App or Site, including but not limited to:
- Inaccuracies in prayer times
- Loss of data or unauthorised access to your account
- Service interruptions or downtime
- Third-party services (Stripe, Apple, Google) referenced or integrated with the App
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
